In 2009, Southwestern R&D LLC. was founded with a mission of providing IT support to local area small businesses. The three founders were Steve Haviland, James Moore, and Chris Bybee. The fledgling company grew slowly from 2008 through 2009, establishing our first office on the corner of Callfield and Wyoming in 2011.
In 2012, Chris Bybee and James Moore exited the company. Steve Haviland acquired full controlling interest and that year rebranded the company. The company calling itself, Think of IT Computer Services, made significant progress over the next 8 years of operation. The newly rebranded company moved locations in early 2013 to downtown Wichita Falls, making its home on the second floor of the Marvin Groves Electric Building at 506 7th Street.
That same year the company expanded out of Wichita Falls and started to service accounts in neighboring cities including Fort Worth, TX and Lawton, OK. During this time, the company refined its mission, becoming a managed IT service provider with a full list of cutting edge capabilities and partnerships with major vendors including Microsoft, IBM, Juniper, Cisco, Dell, and others.
Also during this time, the company reached profitability, and worked to give back to the community. In 2017, the company was the primary sponsor for the Texoma Mini Maker Faire, an event which gave away over $20,000 in scholarships to Midwestern State University and resulted in several new businesses forming to support the maker community in Wichita Falls. In 2018, the leadership team, led by Steve Haviland, worked with other community leaders to introduce the 1 Million Cups initiative to Wichita Falls. The 1 Million Cups mission is to help startups, entrepreneurs and other small business owners identify and overcome challenges in business ownership.
One challenge the company continued to have during this time was that name recognition did not instantly connect back to the company’s mission. In 2020, the company made the difficult decision to rebrand again. This time, changing it’s name to BTSG, the Business Technology Solutions Group. As part of this new rebrand, the company adopted branding guidelines, uniforms, and worked to increase name recognition with the new brand. A new website, https://btsg.io was introduced in early 2021. BTSG now services four major markets and continues to promote many great initiatives in Wichita Falls and the communities in which it works!
